Voldemort's eyes glowed red with anger. "Be careful, Theo, Lord Voldemort does not suffer insolence."
"Intriguing," Voldemort said in response to the madness defense. It would be an interesting bit of magic to study.
As they walked to the Death Chamber, they were joined by a few of the former Azkaban inmates that had been set free several months ago. Voldemort prowled around the Veil, almost mesmerized by it. "The Veil that killed Sirius Black," he mumbled, recalling what Bellatrix had told him.
He snapped his fingers and one of the unnamed men walked forward. "Stick your hand in," Voldemort ordered and watched as the man did so. As soon as the hand penetrated the veil, the room filled with cries of anguish as the unnamed man struggled but was eventually sucked through. "Interesting, interesting."
He snapped his fingers again and the other man came forward--even if there was resistance it wouldn't have mattered. Voldemort conjured a long, black serpentine rope around the man and then pushed him in. He ordered the rope to pull the man out, but nothing came out, not even the rope. It was as if it had been severed. "Interesting, interesting."
Voldemort ascended the stairs, rejoining Nott. "You really should enjoy your job more," he said patting Theo on the shoulder as he walked out.
