He seemed genuinely happy to see her and that pleased her. With a smile she looked around as he spoke of the party, and nodded. "I can understand why that would be," she said. Of course she'd been friends with Marlene for too long not to be fairly used to colourful parties but it had never been her first pick. She enjoyed the people watching, she agreed on the dancing, she preferred the quiet of being at home with a book or at a dinner with friends.
"I only just arrived," she said, not wanting to say too much. She looked at him, and could guess his apprehension. "I think it's good that people have some place to wind down," she said. "Reduces tension."
"My personal cup of tea would be something a bit more quiet and toned down," she admitted. "But I get a feeling I'm not entirely alone in that?"
