He tried not to sound condescending, because perhaps she didn't realize her error, which was why he was there to correct her thinking.
"We'd love to have you on board to help around the camp. Cleaning, cooking, things like that. But in the air, with the dragons, it's not safe for you. I thought you'd prefer knowing that now, rather than later, after your hopes had been up." He smiled, knowing he was doing her a favor. "You'd be a distraction, sweetheart, or a liability.
