Theo sighed, but there was nothing to it. He would tell his wife all, if she was to stay alive she needed to know. "When the Dark Lord returned, he sent me a book and instructions," he said softly. "In short he threatened me into spying for him," he said and when he saw the look on his wife's face, he took her hand. "Of course I did nothing of the kind," he said softly. "I went straight to the Minister. I would not betray Draco and Astoria like that."
"He never asked for much. Information mostly, never anything I couldn't offer. And then he killed Charlotte." His face grew grim, his hold on his wife tightened. "He sent me the killer, the tool he'd used, had altered his memory so that it seemed as if he'd done it on his own but Professor Snape helped me get to the real memory. I offered to become a spy then," he said. "And still am now. One day, the Dark Lord will face too much opposition, he will die. I intend to have a hand in that, to avenge the death of our daughter."
"So, that's the truth. I have not been trusted with much, I did not know of the take over in advance, they have placed their people to 'help' me, which means they're keeping an eye on me. At home we are quite safe of course," he added.
