Summary: The triad informs the Order of what's going on
They knew that time was tyrant. Sooner or later people would find out what was happening, and it was better if the information came from them than from Voldemort and the press. They called a meeting of the council, first; just like they had agreed. They waited until everyone was present before James stood up. It was rather weird to be doing this, Severus and Alastor were standing there, backs to the walls as they usually did, and this was the time when Dumbledore would speak up. Jamie suddenly felt the importance of what he had been asked to do, but he knew that there was no going up. He couldn't afford to look scared or week.
"If I can have everyone's attention," he said, pretending that this was one of the many press conferences.
"I know things have been chaotic, and we appreciate the help everyone gave us. We appreciate even more the room we were given to set things up. Now that everyone has been assigned rooms and the school is sealed, we wanted to bring everyone up to speed," he said.
"First off, there's a reason why you are listening to me. Dumbledore died at King's Cross, right before the attack at the Ministry. We don't know if the two were linked or coincidence, but we're leaning towards the former. What you should know is that we have been working on the assumption that one of us, and that included Dumbledore, would die. He took great steps to prepare Severus, Alastor and me. We have new portraits so we can still have his help, memories have been saved. We have also worked on different scenarios, preparing for them. Since he took over the Ministry once, this is a situation that we have considered and prepared for. Things would not have gone so smoothly if we hadn't all considered. We also considered a possible attack on the school, especially with the summer coming, which is why the school is better protected than in the past," he explained, hoping that this would assuage fears and stop questions about how well they were ready.
"We don't know what's going on outside, but we will take steps to inform you when we know something of importance. As of now, we are completely cut off from the outside. We plan to ease that up in the future, but not before we can verify everyone's identity. At the general meeting we will go through assignments and restricted areas, so if you have general questions that you think the rest of the people will want to hear, please save them for later. We will run security. I know we have Aurors, but they will be integrated with the Order. The same thing will be done with the werewolves who can help. Everyone regarding the security of the school will go through the three of us," he said, taking the time to look at the people in the room. "Aunt Hermione has put herself in charge of civilian issues. We'll have more on that on the general meeting. This will be the headquarter for security. The other classrooms on this floor will be used to run different departments, like food, supplies, et cetera. The reason I'm saying this is because many of you will end up running those departments, but again, more later."
He took a breath. "In terms of numbers, besides the Order and families, we have around thirty werewolves, that number jumps to about a 100 with their families. We also have 65 MLE members. Again the number jumps to 134 with their families. On a personal note, my Uncle George and Roxanne are dead. We know that Uncle Percy is all right. We still have no news about Aunt Audrey and Grandma." Jamie took a moment, because they all knew that not knowing likely meant that they were dead.
"One last thing, we think that the all MLE personnel should be members of the Order, not the council, since their input would prove useful for strategy. The same for the school staff since they know the school better than most. We would also suggest Neville and Hannah for the council since we will need him involved with some of vital decision for our survival. Also, personally, I'd like to include Louis, Molly and Rose for the membership into the Order. This is a personal suggestion and it's up to Uncle Bill, Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione. Now, if anyone has question."
