Harry was still at Kings Cross when the message came, having arrived just in time to see the horror of what had happened. Dumbledore dead, Grindewald getting him out as no one seemed able to stop him. That alone was more than he'd ever wanted to see. He'd seen Dumbledore die once, and while the grief he'd felt then was many more times stronger than the shock of seeing him dead on the ground now, it was something he'd hoped not to experience in a very long time. He saw Marlene get there faster than he could, and then the message arrived and his blood ran cold.
His first thought went to James, but as he'd sent the message he had to be okay. Then to Hermione and Ron, then Sirius, hoping they'd all got out. Ginny was safe at Hogwarts, and as far as possessions were they were too. All save for his broom, which was stuck in his office. He wouldn't be seeing that again.
He Apparated to the garden, looking at the house that was nearly finished and wouldn't be used. He didn't even enter, but settled for the broom shed, remarkably enough never hit in the attack. Getting out one of his older brooms he looked inside, pondering things for a moment. The shed was filled with older brooms. Nimbuses and Firebolts, better than anything there was at Hogwarts, and so he summoned a bag and shrunk them all. At least they could be put to good use.
Taking his own broom in his hand, he Apparated to Hogwarts gates where he was immediately approached by the Aurors on duty having been told by Jamie to wait for him. He informed them that the Ministry had fallen, that they under no circumstances were to take orders from the Ministry and to notify him the moment someone contacted them. Once he made sure they understood and agreed, he instructed them to stay at the gate and help direct those who would be arriving and warn him and Moody if anything would happen. He'd need to speak to Moody or Severus, make sure they too could get their families here. There were other Aurors as well that would likely want to come and help them. Without the Ministry, this was all they had, and they'd need every hand they could get to fight the war now.
Getting on his broom he flew towards the castle, getting off when he spotted James just outside the door. He landed. "How are you?" he asked. "Do you have a moment?"
