Re: Sirius/Bellatrix
Anger coursed through him when she suggested sending him back to Azkaban, he'd rather die than be sent there again, and very nearly spat those exact words out in response. "You always played too much, cousin." He wanted to kill her, to see the light vanish from her eyes, in the way he'd imagined since learning she'd been the one to kill him.
You'd better be okay. I'm going to Hogwarts, get your arse there, and let me know, you're okay.
The words flared to life in front of him, and Sirius had only a moment to read them before he was back to dodging curses that came his way, but suddenly the focus of his world shifted, he was no longer singularly focused on Bellatrix, on bringing her life to a close but on James. On the promise he'd made and that little voice that had been reminding him of that promise since he'd first heard his cousin's voice pulsed louder through his mind, pushing everything else aside.
Another of her hexes hit it's mark, his shoulder this time, but rather than feed his anger Sirius was reminded of what he needed to do. It wouldn't do any of them any good to get himself killed here. He'd promised Jamie, told Regulus he'd be more careful, their children needed him. And that was what it took, only those things would have pulled him away from this fight. "Another time cousin."
And as much as he wanted to stay he wasn't going to be the hero today. He was close enough to the stairs, he could make it. He cast a blasting curse at Bellatrix again, this his aim was better, towards her feet just enough to distract her so he could run. Push himself into the crowds of people frantically trying to get out and slipping out of her view so he could make it to an exit.
