A desk job had never been something Rolf had particularly wanted, no he'd been made for the outdoors, for pushing through rough terrain and living off the land. But as they were rebuilding their home it seemed prudent to have at least some source of reliable income. And he'd never ask Luna to do something like this. No she was much better overseeing plans for the house, checking up on the boys, searching for hidden nests of kiltedrangers on their land.
Rolf was happy to let her do it, and the Ministry had been after him for years asking for his help on some particular cases. And finally he'd given in, only temporary of course, once things settled down again he would be back on the trail. There were still so many things he and Luna had to do with their lives, so many plans they had.
The sound of fighting reached him suddenly and he was on his feet before he'd even realized it. Years spent tracking animals, keeping out of sight all of it came into play today. But then humans never behaved like animals, you couldn't predict with them the way you could with some, and as he moved through the halls, ducking spells and dodging on coming death eaters, Rolf looked the wrong direction - just long enough for the Death Eater to come up behind him.
He wouldn't even see the man who sent the bolt of green light in his direction. No, he'd feel it coming, but by then there wasn't anything he could have done, the curse sent him sprawling to the floor and Rolf never picked himself up again.
