Summary: Albus finds what Voldemort has hidden, but it's too late
They were finally successful in making the writing in the book visible. It had taken longer than he'd wanted, but with all the other things that he had to prepare for before his death, time was tyrant. However as soon as they worked out the riddles and discovered the location and nature of the last hidden object Albus rushed to London.
There were no vials this time, but one single trophy hexed to go off and injure a great many people, especially Muggles. With the Hogwarts Express returning in a few hours and Muggles arriving for the King's Official Birthday the next day, the station would be packed. He needed to find this cup before Voldemort did. He needed to find a way to stop it from going off. The book wasn't clear, but it spoke of great death and horrible consequences. Albus didn't have time to find out the details, which meant he was going into this blindly.
He walked through the station, uncaring of the looks he was getting from the Muggles. People had a way to justify robes when they were worn by an old and senile man. No one mentioned the wand he was carrying, which was fine by him. Instead, he continued his reconnaissance, when he saw Rabastan Lestrange stalking through the crowd, hexing the Muggles that stood in his way.
They had no more time. If Lestrange was there, the rest wouldn't be far behind. Albus Disillusioned himself and cast a broader spell, something he had been reluctant of doing because of possible consequences, but he had no choice now. When he felt the presence of the Dark magic, he Apparated to the spot. It was near the entrance to platform 9 3/4, but still in the Muggle part of it.
He looked back and he could see Lestrange looking around, meaning that Tom hadn't known the precise location either. That might just give him the time he needed. There were more spells keeping the bricks in place, and it took longer than he liked to get them loose. Another look; Lestrange was getting closer. He took another brick out and then he could see the trophy.
The energy from it was tremendous. A quick survey showed that it was magically glued inside the column. Albus sighed. "We'll have to do this here, won't we?" he said to no one, but he could feel the magic, as thick as those bricks. He wouldn't have time to break the curse, which left him with one choice.
Albus waved his wand and wrote a fire message to Gellert. I've always loved you and I'll be waiting for you. Please, forgive me.
He took a deep breath and then smiled to himself. "And the adventure continues," he said, before pointing the wand to the trophy. The magic reverberated through the column, the ground started to shake. Albus stood in front of the blast, absorbing the magic coming out of the trophy, uncaring of the screaming all around him. A earthquake the Muggles were screaming and part of his brain was thinking how easy it would be for the obliviators to cover this up, but then the pain became too strong and he was screaming at the top of his lungs, fiery rays of dark magic piercing through him and then the pain stooped, the world became silent. He blinked as he saw Lestrange near him and then he closed his eyes for the last time.
