He handed over money for a large lemon ice and snagged two plastic spoons and a handful of napkins. It didn't take long to reach the tree where he'd left Mona, finding her dozing in the grass in the shade. He slid down the trunk of the tree to sit alongside her, reaching to give her shoulder a gentle shake.
