She really couldn't answer her. Up to the point that Marlene was hurt, the only thing that remotely got her close to the war was Ben's mums' murder. Even that wasn't really close to home. "There are some who don't think we are truly at war yet."
Sipping her drink, she could relate to what Marly was saying. Nicky had a similar relationship with her own work. Even her own boss didn't truly get what she was hoping to accomplish with what she learned because she kept her real notes somewhere safely hidden.
"Well, at least it is habitable. My first flat in Paris was...rats in Knockturn Alley had better living conditions."
"I know they weren't written by you. The fact you answered or got someone to answer for you was appreciated. Not to scare you, but I was worried and again, I wasn't getting much information on your condition. For all I knew you were unconscious and couldn't write back."
