Emmeline raised an eyebrow. "That doesn't surprise me much," she said. No it was more surprising that they have such a party in the first place. The Malfoys she remembered were very far from open minded. It was only bad luck that they had never managed to pin being a Death Eater on Lucius Malfoy and she had a feeling his wife had been more than superficially supportive of his allegiances. Of course none of that was suitable to be said in such a place as this, so she kept her thoughts to herself.
"I wouldn't say more than enough," Emm said with a warm smile, looking over at her friend. "I'd simply settle for enough. The world isn't quite the same without her, trust me, I've seen how it changes when she's gone. And no, growing up never knowing she was there doesn't count," she added. "You never knew what you were missing out on." She turned her attention back to James, though when he went on, the warm smile was replaced by a look of curiosity.
"Was it hard to keep personal and professional apart? Or was it something else you did not like about his leadership?" she asked curiously.
