"But he's old, and probably decrepit," Hugo said, wondering if Wren thought Wood was cute. It didn't bother him if Helen lusted for Oliver Wood, but it would bother him if Wren did.
"I don't slow dance," he warned, though he might make an exception for her. She'd be worth it, and it would make her happy. "Now me, I'm looking forward to the cake, though Rosie already picked it out. I was looking forward to helping her taste them all."
He grinned when she said she'd like his mother. "She's going to like you too. And not only because you're a good influence on my grades." He didn't think it would work in reverse, and he wondered what sort of blackmail she'd have to resort to get get Professor Corner to agree to let him come and visit.
"Well, there's quidditch. And Transfiguration, I'm brilliant there." He didn't even have to work hard for his O's in that subject. "And there's snogging of course, but you wouldn't want to know anything about that, right?"
