"Well all right, if you think it won't make things worse," he said, though the more he thought about writing the Lily, the more comfortable he felt with it. "Does she write back?" He didn't think she would, but it would be good to know beforehand what to expect.
He rolled his eyes at her. "No, so I can have a more reliable mode of transportation than the broom I'm on now. It's fine for Quidditch, but I'm not sure how it would do if I had to travel a distance or anything. You know, if anything happens." He bit his lip again. "I think I should learn to Apparate when school's done. I know it's not legal, but I don't want to hold you or Dad or Mum or anyone back having to get me if there's an attack."
There were other things he'd been thinking about, precautions in case something happened to their family, but he didn't want to share them yet. Though, it was possible Rose's fiance could help. It was something to think about for the immediate future.
"Of course I feel guilty Rosie. I loved Aunt Fleur. But I don't know what to do to be there. I try with Roxy, but I know how unhappy she still gets. And every time something like this happens, it makes it worse. And I really miss Granddad, but no one talks about him anymore." Now he felt like he was whining like a little child, but he didn't think Rosie would mind very much.
