Katherine laughed. "Very marginally. He's one of them, and he acts as if he's all superior, almost as if he was one of us," she said with disdain. "Really they could at least know their place." Which was far below theirs, that much was for certain.
"However, with Newts coming up in a week, and school being over in three, I will have to stand his company but a little while longer. Then I can forget he ever existed," she said brightly.
She chuckled when he went on. "It's obvious that someone hasn't taught you the finer points of fun," she said. "Chess won't let you meet people, it will just keep you from it. Those clubs are social games. A miniature of society only with dancing," she said with a smile. "You have those worthy of your attention and those not worthy, you have to navigate, figuring out which is which, enjoying the former but avoiding the latter without risking to offend the wrong person. It's a game, done with a drink in your hand and dancing."
