Re: After the Meeting - Marlene and Remus
"And there's nothing that says that something educational can't be fun either. I happen to think Handel is just as much fun as The Ramones," he retorted, unable to see anything fun in beats that set his teeth on edge. Still, he smiled at all this talk of clothes. "It's all just clothes to me. My friends may be Blacks and Potters, fashion icons of the society pages. But, it's all just clothes to me, something to keep me from being naked in class. Somewhere along the way, I just happened to find some very good friends with very good taste and very generous natures. And, I have some truly good friends," he added warmly, thinking how blessed he'd been to find all of them -- Regulus, the other Marauders, Harry.
"It's actually all right. I wouldn't be who I am now if I hadn't gone through all of that. And I'm discovering I might actually like who that is, surprisingly enough. There are things I miss about our time, but I think I needed this one. Moody may be the same." He smiled gently. "The time change does make things odd, though. Things that are so fresh for us were history when this generation was born. I still miss my parents and it's been ten years even for me. I get a little jolt every time I look at Ted because I see so much of my father in him. Except the eyes. Those he gets from his mother's side of the family."
Remus nodded in agreement when Marlene said James would have support. "James will have all the support he needs, I can guarantee that." He grinned at her assessment. "It seems to work just fine for me. But, being better friends sounds like a good thing to me."
Laughing warmly he shook his head, looking around for Peter. "No, somehow I don't see that working any more than the other two." He was still chuckling when she proved once again that she was good at her job, though he wouldn't be able to admit that to her and he squashed the automatic flash of jealousy at mention of the dance behind his usual calm smile. "And you would be one of those suspicious people you were warning me about?" he said teasingly with a disbelieving shake of his head. "We're friends, unlikely friends given our history from our time, but friends. Friends do tend to know things about each other. Makes the whole friendship concept work better."
