Re: After the Meeting - Marlene and Remus
"Oh, so you were talking about those young wizards that became famous by singing songs. I should have known," she said, laughing. "Well, I didn't tell you what it costs, but I can tell that whoever had that made for you cares a great deal and has a classical taste that I have yet to see in this day and age. So either Sirius finally decided to show his good taste or it comes from his brother, because I can't imagine anyone else who has the resources and taste for that robe."
She chuckled. "Sorry, I thought you'd opened up since I died, except that you haven't and you remind me of Alastor in that respect, which makes pushing natural. He closes up and I push. It's how we operate. I shouldn't have done it with you; I'm sorry, although I still think there was nothing wrong with my birthday present," she said, with a grin.
"Fine, I misspoke," she said. "A Remus Lupin had a wife, and I'm not saying that you will be that man." She reached over and took his hand. "If there's someone who understand what you're saying, that's me. I look at Alastor and I hear stories about this crazy, reckless Auror called Mad-Eye Moody, and I know that they aren't the same person, and there's no way in hell that I will let him become that man. I don't think for a moment that you should make the choices that your other self made nor do I think that you will become him. That doesn't change the fact that when I died you were just a boy and I made assumptions that didn't prove correct."
Marlene sighed, because she'd never buy that someone his age didn't have relationships, even if they didn't involve sex, so she decided to let that part go. "I fear that I can't separate friendship from love. Too much history with me and Alastor. Being my best friend will always come before being my boyfriend, if that makes sense."
