Re: After the Meeting - Marlene and Remus
Remus snorted. "The era of your origin is showing. Have you forgotten? They don't have dark wizards in this time." He couldn't help rolling his eyes at that himself. Thank goodness his students had finally begun seeing sense! Laughing warmly he shrugged. "I really don't want to know. As I said, simple or gifts. This was the latter. Bad form to know how much a gift cost."
His smirk deepened as he sat back. "No, you just sound more like the Marlene I remember. Less like the pushy woman with boundary issues that came back in her place." He grew more sober as she continued. "Maybe not, but I'm sure he will come to see it eventually. With your help. Emotions tend to confuse people who are used to ignoring them."
Remus echoed her sigh. "No, Marlene. I didn't have a wife. The man who did is long dead and I will never be him. Don't fall into the mistake everyone else wants to in believing him to be me. We share some history and traits, but he's gone. I'm just me. The me he maybe should have been had he not lost everything and everyone that meant everything to him.
"And two, we weren't discussing friendships. I'm well aware that they are 'relationships'. But, it's not what we were discussing." And he'd had enough trouble figuring those out himself over the years. "Three, it was a joke, Marlene. Humour. I'm allowed to poke fun at my own inexperience with a friend."
