And Alastor truly hated that it was even necessary. But, he was starting to see a few benefits, even if he feared he'd be bored out of his skull within a week.
"I agreed to take the post if he could arrange reinstatement of the Patrol. Perhaps I should have remembered this was Dumbledore and he usually gets what he wants. For that I apologise." He couldn't actually speak ill of Dumbledore or criticise the man when they needed to present a united front for the Order. "If it helps," he added with a slight smirk. "I asked him for your job instead, but he didn't go for that suggestion."
