Alastor wasn't trusting a lack of earshot or line-of-sight to keep this a private conversation and the privacy spells were almost instinct, born of habit, than anything else. He was trying very hard not to react to the tone in Potter's voice. Despite his short fuse, even shorter these days, he knew from Potter's perspective it was deserved.
At least until explanations could be given.
