Nicky looked up from her work at his question. "I apologize if I confused with my wording. Thus far, the objects have arrived at the destination in the same condition as when the time turner sent them," she said. "However, when they returned back to present time, the plants have grown as two years have passed since they left my presence."
Closing her book for a moment, she went on to explain that was expected with such a distance of time being manipulated. "Time is a constant moving calculation. Once the object arrives on May 17, 20 24 or further it will have to proceed through the entire year before returning to the moment it was sent back.
"Short trips, a few hours or even a week, the conditions of the body will sustain that time with little or no changes. Theoretically, however, humans do age an hour every time they go back, even if they repeat the same hour over and over again. The hours will add up and you will age.
"Since we do not have anything that will allow you to jump ahead in time, once you go back a decade, you will have to live those full ten years before returning to when you left."
As for what she planned to do about the issue, she had not yet decided. Of course, working to reverse the time turner in order to allow for forward movement is a possibility with several complications as well ethical ramifications.
"Ideally to fix the problem, we would need to reserve the process to have someone move forward. However, we would need to limit how far forward one could go. Jumping back ten years then turning around and forwarding 20 will cause more issues and problems."
