Charlie shrugged, he didn't doubt that repeated use of those spells would change anyone, all you had to do was look at Voldemort to see what the spells could do to a person. "I remember." He assured her - the war he'd lived through may not have gone on for years and years, but it was certainly long enough, and he found himself hardening at the mere implication that he wouldn't understand, he understood well enough what war did to people - the effect certain spells could have, but more than that he understood what loss did to people. And the longer this went on the more losses they would feel - and that was what he hoped to spare his family this time. They had already lost so much - if this war could be ended with one spell? If he could spare them more pain, it was worth it, no matter the cost to his soul.
"I think we're all hoping for that." He nodded, he didn't imagine anyone hoping that this would drag out for years.
He snorted and shrugged. "A bit yeah." He told her. "It's sort of what the Weasley's do, we get married and then we spawn." He chuckled lightly as he spoke, he'd never had any problem with any of his family doing that, he loved his many nieces and nephews, and he loved the new family he gained in his siblings' spouses, but he'd known for a long time that marriage and kids were not something he wanted. "I'm sure mum would love it if I were married, and occasionally my brothers tease me about it, but I'm perfectly content to be single. I had my dragons, and the occasional bird or bloke for a bit of fun, and my family. There's not much more I need in life, to be quite frank."
