Snape smirked and lifted his newly-iced glass in ironic toast, before taking a sip.
"Precisely. I don't know about you, but I I see enough of the Madding Crowd at the school. At least there, most of the throng still have some growing to do."
He glanced across the crowd in Hannah's direction. "I have to admit to a certain amount of surprise to see you here. I thought such an event might be rather overwhelming for your wife at this stage. Not to mention," he added slyly, "if I were in your shoes, I'd do anything for as quiet a life as possible, knowing it was soon about to be a thing of the past."
