Severus' hand came up in a blur, and he clawed the treats out of midair, both of them in one cat-quick grab. He turned them over in his fingertips: a squint, a sniff, and a muttered, "Mostly gopher; added jarvey liver for vitamins and minced hippogriff down and hair for roughage." He nodded approval before returning to the window and leaning out of it, stretching down to offer one treat to each owlet. Judging by the enthusiastic cheeps and squawks coming from outside, the birds also approved.
Then, using his other hand, Severus selected and inspected the coffee bean, before munching it appreciatively. "Arabica, medium roast, dark chocolate with..." another bean disappeared, "...80% cocoa solids." He considered. "The heat should be kept just low enough to melt the chocolate, otherwise it risks releasing bitter oils from the beans." He surfaced from the moment of potions contemplation and a slow, reminiscent smile dawned.
"Exactly what we did with the peas? But I think that a fingerpainted squid would look much more... squidly, in pea-green rather than in chocolate-brown. Especially against such a sallow canvas," he added, glancing down at his chest with a self-deprecating grin.
