Marlene pouted. "Are you saying that I wouldn't?" she asked. "I'm very stubborn in case you didn't know. I'll make sure, because I say so."
She slid back so he could sit up and then put her hands on his shoulders. "I thought he might, but I had hoped that you might find something you liked as opposed to something he liked. Can you talk about it or is it another secret?"
Marlene shrugged. "Not one of my favourite subjects, I admit, but you are slightly more important than your average class, and I have shown that I can follow the rules when it counts, like at work."
She nodded. She really did understand what Alastor was saying, but she knew it, she'd known all along that it was the right thing. "I didn't know I wanted it either until we started talking, and then I knew, Alastor. I meant what I said, though. I want this and you. Everything else is secondary. I know you and what you want, and if I weren't ready to compromise I wouldn't have pushed for this. The question still remains: what do you want? Because you are more important than anything. I've always resisted settling down because women turn into babbling idiots and men start acting like they bought chattle. I know this isn't the case for us, so a lot of my worries don't exist with us."
