"That's life." Sirius shrugged, kissing James. "It doesn't have to be you to step up. There are other capable people who can help if you decide you'd rather not." And of course Sirius would support James either way he went, whether it was helping or not.
Sirius rolled his eyes and grinned, "Oh just hush and listen to your husband for once. I am right, partial to you or not." He smiled against James' lips. "No you're right, that is probably not at all why they thought of you - but they need it whether they think of it or not. Of course you'll surprise them, you're brilliant."
Neither was a particularly good option, Sirius liked things the way they were right now, but they needed the Order - and if James could help to keep it together, to make it a whole. They could do that, they could both sacrifice some to get what they needed now. "Course I will, I'll help with all of it. And we'll make sure they both understand." He stroked his thumb across James' hip, pulling him closer and kissing him. "It will be all right."
