For years, Katherine had maintained her high grades in Astronomy by the use of an advanced astronomical model that she kept on her bed side table. It was very useful for making clear what was in the books, and what she could later observe in class, but just last week it had been knocked off the table and smashed on the stone floor by one of the cats in the dungeon.
Having hexed the cat so badly it would never show it's tail in the dorm again, there was still nothing to be done to save the model. The magic was too complex to be fixed by magic.
Which was why she was in Dervish and Banges when she could have been in Gladrags trying on clothes of the latest fashion right now. Not that she wouldn't make time for that too, she would, but with meeting Scorpius later it would be less time than she liked.
She needed something that fitted with that perfect necklace she'd received - both robes and Muggle wear - and that sort of perfection could take time. Especially since she kept being distracted and imagining that she was seeing Mr Gamp around. Impossible of course, as he was out of the country, but obviously someone looked a lot like him in the village today.
She was just reaching for the door when her hand accidentally brushed together with a man's aiming to do the same thing, and she withdrew it as she looked at the man in question. "Go right ahead," she said, waiting for him to hold open the door for her. It was the only proper thing to do after all.
