There was a small zap of static from the door at the first touch, much like Al's magic when he was startled, but other than that, the knock didn't cause any further commotion than the ordinary clockwork click-clack of opening locks from the other side. It was a rather well-paced and rhythmical click-clack, which was almost like a song. Or a mechanical version of Al's echoing door knock.
After a few seconds, the door opened about an inch and a single Al eye surveyed the street and the newcomers through it. Another second passed, and the door opened wide enough to let them in.
Inside, the first room was mostly empty, save for the fireplace too small to be used for Floo, but another open door provided a view of dimmer, smaller room, and through it (and past Severus' looming Dementor-shadow form), the kitchen was seen. The kitchen had light, and a dedicated place for a table and a few chairs, which meant it obviously had a higher priority in the repair-and-reconstruct queue of Al's.
