"Well yes, or I was, I don't know now, do I?" he said with a sigh that spoke of how miserable he was about this, shaking his head as Remus went on.
"Well then she doesn't need me in her life making it harder, does she? It's hard enough for her anyway." He wouldn't do that to her, and when Remus went on all he could think of was how miserable she'd looked when he left.
"We talked about it, and agreed it's for the best," he said. "I just- I had hoped there would be another way." He shrugged. "I guess there isn't."
"Thanks though, for taking the time to talk to me," he said. "I should let you eat, and get back to work." He didn't need to stay here more than he had to.
