Remus watched Patrick pace, understanding he was basically turning the man's entire venture on it's ear with his comments. But, the clinic was a disaster waiting to happen if it was attacked again. Unfortunately, even the good people who tried to help others had to be prepared to fight to do so. It was a lesson this generation was only just beginning to learn.
When Patrick stopped and looked at him, Remus figured he had a choice. He opted to take the Gryffindor route because he trusted Patrick's motives and it had been made patently obvious to him that politics of the non-pack variety were not his game. "I still do. To be honest, that was my first thought. I can't guarantee anything without speaking to others. But, I would say there's a good chance of at least getting extra help and protection for this month while you assess options." He didn't tell Patrick how many Order members were already tied to the clinic in one way or another. Best to let things go through him for now, unless or until Patrick joined with the Order officially.
"As for what it will cost you, monetarily..." He chuckled. "Half of us are Gryffindors. We do this for ideals, not money. Politically, I really couldn't say. We prefer to work in secret. So, outwardly, you would remain much as you are. What you might be asked to do in return, for the most part, that's going to be based on your own skills and assets. Where those in charge feel you're most useful. It would, however, put a lot more resources into availability for us to draw on for the work here and would make talking to some of my contacts easier.
"If that's something you want to consider. Unfortunately, you likely won't have a choice much longer. If you don't choose a side, they'll choose for you. We're up against people who very much believe in the idea that if you're not with them, you're against them." Watching Patrick's reactions, knowing how far out of his league the other man was going to end up before all this was through. "I can get the answers you need tonight, if you want them," he offered. "But, I don't want to talk to them unless you're sure that's an option you want to consider seriously. Once I do, you're on the radar, as it were."
Not that the clinic hadn't already been on a lot of people's radar. But, Remus actually respected Patrick's wish to keep it separate from all factions, much as he didn't think it was going to be a choice for very much longer.
