"Yes. Since I was six, and my brother fell out of a tree near our home. He wasn't injured, but ever since then I've wanted to be able to be useful if something like that happens," he said, unaware of the significance of that statement. "I like helping people, learning new ways to heal them. Eventually I'd like to develop new healing methods, and cures for diseases. There's always something new to do or learn, so it's never boring."
He paused for breath, and realized that he'd been monopolizing the conversation. "What about you? I don't think you've ever said what it is you do," he asked, taking a sip of the tea the waitress had brought. "You shouldn't let me go on like that, or I'll talk your ear off. Mum says I might have been bitten by a Babbling Blaughnargh when we were traveling in Australia when I was a child, but we never found a bite."
