Remus closed his eyes briefly, trying to let Regulus' words sink in. "Logically, I know you're right. But, when it comes to him, I don't know what it is, I just can't be logical. It wasn't this bad, even after that night. Now...I know he was the one, it wasn't an accident, and I feel like I'm five years old again and he's the monster in the closet." Wrapping both hands around the back of Regulus' neck, thumbs brushing along the other man's jaw, he shook his head. "Don't ask me to blame you." No matter how much he should or how true it might be, he couldn't do that and keep his sanity.
"I wasn't ever going to go my own way," he said with a small smile. "I'm too much of a stubborn arse to have not found a way to stay in your life." Gods, his heart literally melted to hear Regulus talk of when they had children. Kissing him softly, Remus' smile brightened. "We'll find a way. We will find a way and our children will love you as much as I do. You'll have this. If this is what you want, then we will find a way to make it so."
Placing a finger briefly on Regulus' lips, he shook his head. "Shh. No more apologies. I forgive you. And I will give you whatever time you need to tell me anything. We're going to find a way to build a life together, after all. We'll have the rest of our lives to tell each other everything."
Echoing the other man's sigh, Remus had to admit he had a point. Sirius had always been protective of his friends. That he'd stepped in when they were younger to keep Marlene at a distance proved it. "He loves you, too. We may be as close as brothers. But, you are his brother and nothing I or James could do ever replaced you. I can't say he won't be upset. But, maybe it's what you both need to truly get your fresh start. Rather than hiding from the past, look at it head on and then let it go. It was literally another lifetime. And, I'll be right here to support you."
Nodding, he forced himself to breath again before smirking mischievously. Repeating what he'd been practising in training the previous day, he conjured up his steel throwing knives. "Not silver. I've never actually worked with silver. But, I might have been practising a bit," he added sheepishly.
Letting his worries go, Remus focused on kissing Regulus, on just feeling and letting go of the pain. "I love you, too," he breathed back, trailing kisses along his lover's jaw and throat. "Want to get lost with you for a little while." He returned to Regulus' lips. "No more pain for either of us tonight."
