Re: James/Scorpius
"Maybe so, but it was still the right thing to do. I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't. Either they are happy that I tow the line, or I am happy to have a life. One of those makes the other miserable. Do I condemn myself for the sake of the family?" He shrugged, knowing that he couldn't. "They will do alright. They are having their second chance, and the purebloods will forgive them like before. They will find it appropriate for my family to disinherit me, pat them on the back, and I've accepted it."
He smiled softly. "Yes, it is easier. I've been there too. I'm not going to start waving a flag and screaming for my rights. I quietly walked away instead." He watched Jamie, looking at those same blue eyes, but it wasn't the same, which was a good thing. "What would you do if your family would have insisted that you could not marry Sirius, not that you asked them? Would you have continued to play the game, eventually given him up?"
He was glad for the rest of the conversation, although they weren't fighting, and that was good. Yes, they disagreed but there was no need for the rest of it. "I don't know what you had in mind but it wasn't my Grandmother's job. She isn't exactly going to hand it over to you. Did you have something else in mind?"
