"I'm pretty sure that mistresses are an honoured tradition of the aristocracy. You just happen to be of a different gender, and I'm pretty sure you won't be the first either." Regulus had no illusions about that. There was a difference between what you showed to the people and what you did in private. "I doubt you will find much in writing. It would be rather stupid to leave evidence lying about. I'd say that anything referencing any less than moral activity would likely by destroyed. However, you are free to read them."
Regulus nodded. "Which brings up back to the fact that it could be a while before they have children and before they go through the Wizengamot."
He sighed. "I'm not saying no outright, but I'm still not convinced that all of this can happen, especially in an acceptable time frame. There are so many conditions that need to have a favourable outcome, and if one of them fails - and counting on Sirius for anything important is rather suicidal, - the entire plan is meaningless."
He turned his head to look at Remus. "What do you mean not years? Of course, it will take years. Even assuming that Nott can do it, first he needs to find a way, then he needs people who want to do, and there's no guarantee there, and then pregnancies still take nine months. Right there, you're looking at years. Sirius needs to have a child, decide that he really wants one now, the pregnancy and then the fight with the Wizengamot. Again years. Even with your time frame, we're looking at about three years before I could have a child. So yes, years is probably a very optimistic estimate." He covered Remus' hand with his. "Honestly, I don't know. Ask me again in September; it's six months from now; we'll see what progresses have been made- I want this, Remus. I want you, but I don't know if it's realistic."
