Remus smiled gratefully at his friend. "Thanks for that. Although, I don't think you could talk me out of it no matter how hard you tried." There were very few things he was sure of in this world. How ever felt about Regulus and trying to build a future for them was one of those things.
"I won't say a word. I promise." Of course, he already knew that Sirius had mentioned that idea to Regulus. But, he didn't say that, either. Though mention of legitimacy did remind him of Jamie's plans. "You might want to talk to him soon, though. It's the traditions, I think, more than you personally. You spent so much of your youth rebelling against the traditions your parents wanted for you. And that time was only a couple years ago still for Regulus, not the decade or more it's been for you and I. He wants those traditions for the next generation of Blacks, which I can understand up to a point."
That point being the point at which they no longer have a future because of those traditions, of course.
Remus smiled as Sirius went on to talk about wanting to give Regulus the family they hadn't been to each other as children. "If that's what you want, then you should try to make it happen -- the same way I intend to try and make a future with him.
"James thinks I should bargain with him for time. That was part of what we were talking about in the library the other day. He came in while I was looking for your family's history, hoping for some precedent that would justify offering to remain his lover even if he has to get married to a woman." That he would even consider that as an option still surprised Remus, but if there was no other way, he'd do it to remain in Regulus' life and have Regulus remain in his. "Although, James didn't seem to think much of that idea."
