Summary: Marlene puts up back the wall
Marlene slept in her bed for the first time since Alastor had returned home from St. Mungo's. It felt strange to have so much room again, never meeting another solid body no matter how much she moved or trashed around. It was strange, and she wasn't sure she liked it, but Marlene was adaptable, used to changing habits and strategy while in the run. This was nothing more than another change.
When she woke up, she was faced with the hole in the wall. It wasn't hard to hear Alastor in the next room. She didn't even try, and Alastor was generally a quiet person, but it was impossible not to hear the noise when the rooms were practically one. She said nothing, though. Instead, she got up, showered, got dressed and went to the kitchen to have breakfast there. If Dumbledore thought that there was anything wrong, at least he didn't say anything, which was good, because at the moment she wasn't too impressed with men.
After breakfast, she went back to the room, and stared at the hole for a while, trying to decide what to do. Alastor had complained about having her there, but she had thought that it was an empty complaint, said out of habit. Now, she was rethinking things. Maybe he really saw her as just a friend, and had never stopped her because he didn't want to hurt her. Maybe what Emmeline had seen was nothing more than a man losing his best friend. After all, she would have felt the same if the positions had been reversed. Maybe they were all pushing Alastor into something he didn't want, and that seemed the likely explanation, because one didn't need weeks to know if he loves someone. It was something that you just knew, and Alastor didn't know.
Merlin, what an idiot!
She had created an entire relationship out of nothing, and now she had to deal with the consequences. Of course, the easiest way was to go back to normal. They would work together, and live in the same house, but that didn't mean that they would have to spend all of their time together. In fact, it was time that she started going out more, and Alastor would get all the time he wanted, and the some. Of course, it had to start with something simpler.
Marlene called the house elf, and asked him to repair the wall. A few spells, and the wall was solid between the two rooms. A few spells and she felt like she'd lost her best friend. Shaking the feeling away, she got up. It was time to find Jacob and go shopping, because shopping fixed everything in live.
