Summary: Remus decides quiet holidays are a good time for the two of them to build castles in the air.
A man could get very used to this, Remus thought.
Over the last couple of days he had spent a lot of thought on his conversation with James in the library. The younger man had said a number of things that had made sense and had given Remus a better perspective on things with Regulus. Being away from the school with so much time to themselves, just able to exist together comfortably without being pulled in a thousand different directions had helped solidify a few things for Remus as well.
He wasn't certain yet about the idea of making a deal with Regulus for time together, although the idea had been one of those prominently on his mind. Perhaps by the end of the holiday he'd have decided. It seemed to much easier to think of things like that here than at the school.
One thing he had decided was that James had a point about obsessions with the past and not just in regards to Regulus. Remus was that way too, living in the past...brooding. They talked of the past, which was good. It let them draw closer to each other, know each other better. They talked of the present, particularly the war or their students. But, the future was dangerous territory and a future for the two of them not an option for conversation.
They had no dreams. Not that they talked of at any rate. Their only plans extended to the end of the summer.
So Remus had taken his mug of hot chocolate and gone searching for his lover until he found him, intent on gently feeling out the waters a little, building dreams the future didn't need to hang on, but which might pave the way for more meaningful dreaming later.
Only now that he'd found him, Remus kept silent, padding quietly on bare feet to stop in the doorway, mug in hand, just watching Regulus in the sunlight and marveling anew that he even had the opportunity to be worrying about such things, to be loved at all, by the man in the room before him. It was quiet and still and Remus simply leaned in the doorway and looked, absorbing the moment with a soft smile.
