Alex stood at the bathroom door, towel and toothbrush in hand, then snickered. Then laughed. Hugo had asked him to put the sign on the door and he'd done so, blearily and sleepily in the dark. He hadn't read it, and right now, he was glad, because if he had, his laughter would have woken everyone up.
He pushed through into the bathroom and turned on the tap, wetting his toothbrush and squeezing toothpaste on.
"You're not using the water, are you?" A third-year with wide eyes looked up at him. "It's dangerous, can't you see?" He waved wildly at the door.
"Yeah, to most people," Alex said, starting to brush his teeth. He paused, gesturing with his foamy brush. "But there's this antidote, you know. My dad knows about it, and set me up just in case this happened. So I'm good." He carried on brushing his teeth as the student left, and was just rinsing his mouth when he returned, another pair of students in tow.
"You've got to share it. If there's an antidote, you've got to share it around. Or owl your dad for more. We've got to shower and stuff!"
Alex chewed at the inside of his cheek, looking at them. "I dunno. If I share with you lot, then I might run out before they fix this." He pretended to consider, then shook his head. "No, I better not. Sorry guys, but I need showering more than you do. You're not even old enough to smell yet." He patted the smallest on the head and headed off for the shower, whistling under his breath.
