"It's a mother's privilege," she said. "You just wait. You'll worry about your child even if it's smiling at you and showing every sign of being completely content. You'll wake up if you hear a creak or a cry. It's nature."
She frowned, not satisfied. "And what about the growth of the baby? Is that normal? And the heartbeat? Are you eating the right foods and taking vitamins to boost anything you might be deficient in?" Ginny knew she was asking questions only to worry Lily but she didn't like how nonchalant her daughter was. It wasn't her. "They've been having babies for a thousand years, they've also lost babies and died themselves for a thousand years. I want you safe and to call me if you even have twinges of pain. I can maybe save you from worrying unduly and stressing the baby out."
Ginny shook her head. "I just wanted to show you that you were wanted here. Your dad loves coming home to you at the end of the day and I forget all about the stresses of school when I talk to you," She smiled. "We didn't split though. We love each other and we both love you. We'll always be here for you, love. Please know, understand and believe that."
