James let that slide for now. He knew that the arguments with which he'd persuaded himself weren't going to work on Sirius. 'He really hasn't done anything yet' wasn't going to do shit to persuade somebody who'd had to live with all the consequences of what Peter—to James and Peter—had been going to do, and—to Sirius, and to Harry and the rest of the world as well—had done.
Sirius had not spent years in Azkaban because Peter 'hadn't done anything'.
"You think he'll betray us again?" he asked instead, still serious, still neutral. "Go over to Voldemort?"
