She wished she could hug him, but it wouldn't be appropriate here. Or perhaps ever. But despite everything, he was still her friend and she would support him as best she could.
"I don't think age matters, when it comes to second chances," she said softly. "You're a lot older than I remember you, but I feel as if I have my friend back. While I can't understand what you saw in him, I can understand the feeling of relief and satisfaction to have that friendship back, or in this case have it finally be as it should have been."
She looked around the room, taking stock of all the people who'd been granted a second chance, and wished fervently for none of them to mess it up this time.
