"All right, that's fine. Whatever you need to do is fine," he said, reassuring Scorpius. He hugged him tightly for a moment longer, and then gently withdrew. Things were easier between them, but the aftermath of the fight and his cheating was still obvious. Things didn't feel as natural as they had before. He didn't know if they ever would.
"I love it. There's always something new, and I don't even notice the sixteen hour days until they're over," he said, grinning as he put together a couple of plates and brought them to the table. "But I feel as if all I've done this week is work and sleep. It's satisfying, but exhausting too." Added to that was the fact he hadn't been sleeping very well, his thoughts jumbled and confused.
He glanced down at the box, palms suddenly sweating. "Scor, you shouldn't have spent money on me," he said, but he reached out with careful fingers to take the box. "Thank you." He held the box for a moment longer, and then carefully opened it.
