Scorpius hadn't really answered her question but it had him looking at the table. "I don't know," he said. "He... says we aren't. I know I can't trust him, and it sounds like I am talking about someone else almost, like someone transplanted his head by one that looks like him but isn't." His hand squeezed hers. He needed his friend and needed to talk to someone. With Rose, that trust was there.
"I feel like I am dumping all over you. There is good news. I moved out of the manor. I got one whole bag to take with me, really just personal stuff but very little they bought me, like material possessions can't be replaced. I would have left with the clothes on my back." He did smile then but it didn't find his eyes. "There was a time when I wouldn't choose the same thing."
He pushed the menu to the side for now. "So you and Bryn are happy. I was, the last time I was here. You wear it well though. I am happy for you. I still want to meet him officially, but if he makes you look this good, I don't think I will hurt him."
