"Perhaps he didn't have that choice," Al shrugged.
He smiled when dad mentioned Luna and Rolf. "Oh, that's a good idea, actually. Thank you for reminding me, I can talk to them and ask whether they'd mind declaring Scor their visitor for the Security spell's purposes-" and really, Dad's security did deserve capitalization, verbal or otherwise, "-so he doesn't get hypothetically-obliviated-and-kicked-out to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, every time I step outside." Al bit his lip and added, "Which, even if he did speak Persian, would be quite unfortunate, because he'd surely be late for his training at the Ministry then, even considering that he gets a hold of a flying carpet on a black market in time."
He met Dad's stare at the question. "I don't know yet. He might not even accept my offer, but since I've already found an appropriate room to rent and he did not yet, I am considering all the possibilities."
He tilted his head, deep in thought. "Speaking of possibilities, I'm also considering in assisting him to find a place for the two of us. He'd like that a lot and perhaps with two pairs of eyes, the search for an appropriate place would go faster."
