Re: Harry/Ginny
Harry wanted to say yes, he wanted to believe it. But his meeting with Dumbledore was still fresh in his mind and he shook his head. "In theory, yes, I belive we could. I need to believe she's still in there, that she's not completely dead. The right healers, finding a way to counteract whatever damage the spell did. Mind healers to help her realise what she's done. Yes, I believe it would be possible, though how long it would take is impossible to say. It might take decades or the rest of her life, but I believe it could be done."
"In practice?" He swallowed and shook his head again. "The Wizengamot will take her from us the moment we get her back. She'll spend the next several decades in Azkaban with no help, no healers, no contact with the outside world other than the occasional visit. Dumbledore says it's to help her repent and give justice to Audrey, personally I think that if we do that we might as well throw away the key. We can't let her out if she's like this, and if she spends the next 20, 30 or possibly 40 years like this... then there would be no hope at all."
"Dumbledore was made it perfectly clear. If we want her outside of Azkaban we'll have to go outside the law. Kidnap her. Hide. We won't be able to get help for her that way either. We're stuck with the same problem. She needs healers, but there is no way we'll be able to give her what she needs." And it cut through him like a knife to say that, because he didn't want to give up. He wanted to find a way. Some middle ground. But all others would see was the attempt to get a murderer off.
