Harry chuckled. "You're talking as if you need to convince me," he said with a smile. "I'm not upset and I certainly won't try to stop him. I told James to do what makes him happy, but to not rush into any decision until he was sure it was the right one for him, because I know this isn't an easy decision for him."
He took a bite of food and swallowed it down with some champagne before he went on. "Truth is, I never expected him to become an Auror. I was actually a bit surprised when he went that way. I know now that I was why James chose the way he did, but I really hadn't expected it. He likes the job though. He's good at it too. It's the part where I'm his boss and he's constantly compared to me that he can't stand."
"Were we selfish?" he asked. "Bringing children into all the chaos that is our lives? The media, the constant comparisons. Should we have known that we couldn't protect them? That they'd end up hurt because of who we are - well mostly because of who I am?" He shook his head. "Being a father is the best part of my life safe for being your husband. But did I hurt them by simply being me?" It was something he'd asked himself more and more lately. How much of his children's pain was due to him?
He shook his head. "It's a big house, Ginny," he said with a smile. "They have two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a sitting room all to themselves, as well as their own entrance. It's not like we didn't live with them and Remus at the house for months." He reached over and squeezed her hand. "Luna and Rolf will have found their own place by summer. The house won't be so crowded then, it will just be the four of us for..." he mentally counted the rooms in the house. "...12 rooms. Not counting the 7 bathrooms and the large garden. We'll hardly notice they're there outside mealtime."
