Theo took a sip of his drink, because he'd had this argument with Charlotte and had no interest in having it with his son. "You'll never hear me saying differently, we can leave it at that." And it certainly had not been unnecessary when Stephen had been born.
He sighed. "Your sister died because I did not know what she was doing, of course I'm checking up on you," he answered. "I'm not interfering in your life, Stephen, I wouldn't. I just want to make sure you're safe, and that you have not lost your mind," he added with a slight smirk. "I'm glad I was right."
He finished his drink and sat the empty glass at the table before going on. "The school is only going to be harder come and go to now, and friends are important. You have too few as it is, you work too much. You might consider inviting Azriel or any other friend over sometime."
