"Yeah, I think I've given Rosie enough to worry about this week," he said, and squeezed her hand under the table. "What happened there was awful, but I won't let anything happen to you. You know that right?" Not that he would be sneaking out to the Greenhouses anymore, especially not with Wren. He wouldn't take the chance with her.
"I think they just want everyone in one place. Maybe the castle's magic is stronger when it's full or something," he said, though it was just a guess. "Your dad would probably know more."
He sighed, but grinned as she numbered his lines. He'd forgotten that, but apparently he was nearly at one-thousand. Not too bad for just a couple days. Of doing nothing but sleep, class, eat and write lines. And do homework when he needed a break. His life sucked at the moment.
"Thanks, love," he said, and risked leaning over to kiss her cheek. It wasn't what he wanted, but it would do for now. "And it's pretty terrible, but I'll get through it."
