"What's the point, Dad? I either take the tests or not. Even if I decide now, it'll take a few days, and another few to get the results and we're basically in April. As opposed to what? End of May, early June?" he asked. "And what do I do after that? I've been thinking about it, and I just... I don't see it. I can't go to Homicide, you won't give me the Voldemort task force. So what? Go to Major Crimes because it's politically convenient? I can get into politics right now." He sighed. "I don't know. I'm still going to take the tests. I'm not quitting until I'm a full Auror."
James snorted. "You really are deluded, Dad. I'm also not waiting until I'm forty to prove that maybe I'm better than everyone else in this office, but that no one notices because you're the boss."
He nodded. "And while you hope, she can kill you. I'm just saying that you should hope with a wand ready to hex her."
