Fire Message: Peter to Albus Who: Peter, Albus Where: Hogwarts, the Farmhouse When: Lunch, March 16, 2025 Rating/Warnings: Summary: Peter sends Albus a message
Peter had been working on the new communication method whenever he had free time. His rooms were strew with papers, the walls filled with calculations and incantations. It looked like a mad man's lair, but it made sense to him. It was unlikely anyone else would be able to make heads or tails of his research, but that didn't bother him.
He'd used Dumbledore's notes about the fire writing, and managed to tweak it so he could send it to specific people. The words would appear visible only to that specific person, and it would be able to be sent to a group of people at once. The incantation could be done wordlessly, if the wizard or witch were familiar enough with the spell, so it had the added benefit of being able to be done with stealth. Important, if you were caught by Death Eaters and only had a second to fire off a spell.
He'd tried it a couple times on himself, during class and when the students hadn't reacted he had determined that the words were not visible to them. He was ready to send it off to Dumbledore, and decided that instead of an owl he would do one last trial and send a fire message instead. If he didn't hear back, he'd know it hadn't work and he could tweak the spell some more before trying again.
He waited until lunch to send it, as he had two free periods in the afternoon, and if Dumbledore wanted to go over the spell with him, there would be time. The message was short and to the point, something he thought Dumbledore would appreciate. He sent the message from his rooms, and then all he could do was wait.
